The Big Sale

The Big Sale

Updated On:22-July-2015

There is a big fashion sale expected in this weekend as the E-commerce websites Myntra and Snapdeal are both holding end of season sales this weekend.

Myntra's 'End of Reason' sale had a good response offering between 30 to 80% off across its range. Snapdeal on the other hand played it role offering 30 - 70% off on men's footwear, 40 - 80% off in women's fashion, and discounts on computer accessories and phones too.

Myntra recently went app-only, first of its kind to do so. However, so far it hasn't been rosy for the company. Myntra has seen a 10% dip in sales, but the online fashion portal argues that about 95% of its traffic and 70% of its sales come from the mobile platform. However, the company was confident that it will make up the loss in the following weeks.

These days, much to customers' joy, it isn't uncommon to see 'flash sales' often, as online shopping websites try and stay on top of the competition. All the go-to e-commerce websites in India -- Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Snapdeal, Jabong -- offer massive discounts often.
According to Morgan Stanley's recent reports, the online shopping penetration in India will increase to 36% by 2020 from 9% recorded in 2013, to be primarily led by mobile users.
