Aldi UK has chosen iForce to support the launch and future growth of its e-commerce platform for non-food products, awarding the supply chain specialist a long-term contract to provide fulfilment services as it develops its online proposition.
Aldi is utilizing iForce Gateway, a fulfilment solution powered by proprietary software, SMART, from iForce’s multi-client warehouse in Corby, Northamptonshire.
The retailer previously used Gateway to maximize the efficiency of its fulfilment model before it started selling wine online in January of this year. After seeing success with the wine operation, it is now offering a wider range of products online, such as coffee machines and blenders.
iForce’s supply chain experts designed a bespoke fulfilment model for Aldi, which was then refined during a beta testing period late last year. This collaboration between iForce and Aldi helped make sure the retailer’s e-commerce platform was efficiently launched on time and to budget.
Aldi is also using iForce Pathfinder, the company’s carrier management solution supported by the Route Genie software. This ensures Aldi can achieve the best carrier options in terms of pricing and customer service.
Jonathan Neale, Joint Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi, commented, “Our ecommerce platform is a key part of our long-term strategy to make award-winning quality at everyday low prices available to as many people as possible. It was important to us that we applied our well established Aldi principles of simplicity and efficiency to our new online operation and iForce’s expertise in fulfilment has helped ensure the smooth launch of our online proposition.
Brian Gaunt, CEO at iForce, added, Aldi is a hugely successful, dynamic brand and we are extremely proud to support the launch and ongoing development of its ecommerce operation. Our industry-leading fulfilment and carrier management solutions are underpinned by bespoke software, developed over many years of managing challenges within the evolving modern commerce marketplace.
