E-commerce Company Flipkart has launched the Back to School campaign with more than 17,000 school products for the parents who wish to buy in advance. It is expected to grow over three times as compared to last year. This campaign is planned with the motive to enable the parents to shop things needed for their children in the next academic year. The kids category on the whole has witnessed a growth of 1.5 times in the past few months and Flipkart is anticipating growth in excess of three times as compared to last year.
The products available for parents to pick from include school bags, lunch boxes, water bottles and stationary products such as pencil box, pouches, art sets and more. With the number of animated movie releases in the past couple of months, character and movie based merchandise has gained much popularity and it is expected to grow tremendously during the Back to School Season. Flipkart plans to launch Exclusive Back To School merchandise for brands like Superman Vs Batman, Mickey, Spiderman, Disney Princess, Dora and FC Barcelona.
The campaign which will be on till most schools reopen will feature brands like Funskool, Barbie, Benetton etc in various sizes offering a wide selection to consumers. Rishi Vasudev, VP - Lifestyle, Flipkart said that over 50-60% of the traction is coming in from metro cities. However, we are witnessing substantial increase in interest from tier 2 and 3 cities as well. He added that they are offering a great range of branded and character merchandise at competitive prices.
