Cooliyo - a portal that offers niche ecommerce players a common platform with industry biggies such as Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal and Jabong to showcase their products - recently launched a mobile application for Android and iOS platforms.
Inspired by the likes of Pinterest and Tumblr, the entire content on cooliyo is community-generated. The portal is owned by two-year-old startup Shoptimize India.
"Cooliyo is a community curated collection of products across online stores in India. Users submit products onto cooliyo by posting a URL and after our internal approval, the product is available for the community to see. In this respect, it acts as a aggregator of hand-picked products," said cofounder and chief executive Mangesh Panditrao.
Cooliyo has 3 lakh registered users and around 250 merchants selling on the platform. It plans to reach 1,000 merchants and 1 million registered users shopping on the platform, with half of them using the new mobile application.
Fashion and Home decor are the two categories the portal is focusing on. While fashion contributes 70% of the total sales, home decor accounts for the rest.
Shoptimize India, which had raised Rs 4 crore in seed funding from Silicon Valley based Tandem Capital, is looking to raise another round in two months to carry on with the brand expansion.
Panditrao declined to identify the possible investors or the amount the company is looking to raise, saying that the negotitations were still ongoing.
Founded by Panditrao, Vivek Phalak and Vardhan Phadnis, Shoptimize helps brands to build and grow their offline business by creating their online store, integrating with payment gateways and logistics, generating traffic to the online store and driving conversion to actual orders. It caters to more than 100 brands across the country.
